Page Management

Learn how to create, copy, move, and delete pages.

Creating A New Page

Login to your Oncord account, and click the "Pages" link located in the left-hand menu, under the "Website" heading.

Clicking this link will show your current sitemap, which lists all the pages on your website.

To create a new page, click the "New Page" button located at the top of the page.

You will be presented with a dialog box which will allow you to specify where the page should reside on your website.

The "Parent Page" is used to specify where your newly created page will be located in your sitemap. In the above example, a new "Our Staff" page will be placed under the "About" page in our sitemap structure.

The "New Page Location" field defines the web address of the new page. You will notice that spaces are automatically changed to the dash "-" symbol. This is because page addresses should not contain spaces.

When you are happy with these settings, click the next button to create your new page. After creating a new page you will be presented with the page editor, allowing you to create the content that will appear on the page.

An Example

See the below example sitemap of how pages might be configured for a website;

  • Home Page
    • About Us
      • Our Team
      • Our Staff
    • Services
      • Content Management
      • Search Engine Optimization
    • Contact Us

To implement the above sitemap, start by creating the "about-us", "services" and "contact-us" pages, setting their parent page to the "/" home page. To create the pages "our-team" and "our staff" to be placed under the "about-us" page, the parent page fields should be set to the "/about-us/" page when they are created.

A Shortcut

This shortcut can save time when creating a new child page.

On the pages screen, hover your mouse to the right of the desired parent page title and click the three dots. This will display a drop-down menu, which will give you the option "New Child Page". The page parent will now be selected automatically in the new page dialog box.

Copying A Page

Save time by using the page clone feature to copy one of your existing website pages.

Follow These Steps:

Login to your Dashboard, and navigate to Dashboard > Website > Pages.
Click the three small dots to the right of the page you would like to copy. This will reveal a drop-down menu.
Select the "clone" option to reveal a pop-up dialog, which allows you to specify where the new page will be located.

Moving A Page

This tutorial will show you how move an existing page on your website.

Pages have both an url address, and a title. This article will show you how to update both.

The Page Address or "url" specifies where the page is located on your website. When you move / rename a page, you change the address.

The Page Title specifies how the page should be named when it appears in navigation menus throughout your website. The page title is also used by the web browser as a title for the current tab, and search engines use page titles to display search results.

When a page is moved, Oncord will automatically setup a re-direct from the old address to the new location, and any media you have uploaded to the page will also be moved.

Move / Rename a Page

Login to your Dashboard.
Click "Pages" in the left-hand sidebar, located under the "Website" heading.
Locate the page that you would like to re-name, and click the three dots to the right of it to reveal a drop-down menu.
Select the "Rename / Move" option in the drop-down menu.
Define the new location of the page, and type in the new page address that you would like to use (see the below example).

After Moving a Page

After moving a page it's a good idea to change the page title to reflect the updated page address. As an example, if you wanted to change the "About" page on your website to "Our Company", it would be a good idea to move the page to update the address, and also update the page title.

To change a page title: click the three dots next to the page you want to edit, select the "SEO & Page Settings" option in the drop-down menu, update the "Page Title" field, and save.

It's easy to export and import web pages between Oncord websites, helping you manage and transfer your site effectively and safely.

  • Click the "Import Pages" button.
  • Once the pages have been imported successfully, you can find them on the Pages page.

Deleting a Page

Managing your website’s structure sometimes involves deleting pages that are no longer needed.

To delete a Page:

  • Navigate to Dashboard > Website > Pages.
  • Click the three-dot button next to the page you wish to delete.
  • You can then choose whether to remove attached media.
    • Note: Removing attached media is Irreversible. Once deleted, media cannot be restored. Only text may be restored through change history).
    • To back up attached media, click "View Attached Media" to review the corresponding media folder. You can also download the media folder as a backup.

  • If the page you want to delete has child pages, you’ll be prompted to decide whether to Delete the Nested Pages as well.
    • Note: If you choose not to delete the nested pages, they will be moved to reside underneath /.

When deleting a page, always keep in mind whether the page URL is still in use in other places (e.g., marketing newsletters, advertising campaigns, affiliate programs, etc.). If so, you will need to create a page redirector to prevent visitors from being led to a 404 page.
