Microsoft Advertising

Microsoft Advertising can help business owners and marketers promote their businesses by launching ads across Microsoft Search Network such as SERP (search engine result page) on Bing, and partner sites through Windows and Office.

The UET (Universal Event Tracking) tag records what users do on your website and sends that data to your Microsoft Advertising account to track conversions and measure the effectiveness of ads.

This article will show you how to create your Microsoft Advertising account, and then instruct you on how to add the UET Tag to your Oncord website.

Set Up Microsoft Advertising Account

Go to https://ads.microsoft.com/ to create your Microsoft Advertising account, you’ll need an email address and website for your business.

Note: You may need to switch to Expert mode for comprehensive features. Learn about the differences between Expert and Smart mode.

Create A New UET Tag

Once you've completed the Microsoft Advertising account setup, it's time to configure the UET tag installation.

  • Sign in to your Microsoft Advertising Account.
  • Click "Tools" at the top right of the window.
  • Click the "Create" button to create a new UET tag.
  • Enter a tag name and description, and then click "Save and next".

Method 1: Install Through Google Tag Manager

If you are already using Google Tag Manager for your website, it's easier to set up the UET tag directly from there. Please check out our help article about Setting Up Google Tag Manager.

  • On the "Set up tagging" page, click "Automatically add the tracking tag through Google Tag Manager".
  • Click "Sign in with Google" to connect your Google Tag Manager account.

  • You may need to update the container in your Google Tag Manager after connecting to get the latest update published.
  • This method will help you set up Bing Ads e-commerce tracking much easier in the future. To know more details, read our help article Setting Up Bing Ads E-commerce Tracking With Google Tag Manager.

Method 2: Install The Tag Yourself

Where embed code needs to appear on all pages throughout your website, it should be added to your website design theme.

  • On the "Set up tagging" page, click "Install the tag yourself", and then click the "Next" button.
  • Click the "Copy tag" button to copy the global site tag.
  • Edit the website design (Dashboard > Website > Designs, select the design to edit).
  • Click "SOURCE" in the left menu to view the source code of your website design.
  • Paste the code just before the closing </head> tag (you can use the shortcut "Ctrl + F" or "Command +F" and search "/head").
  • Click the "Save" button located at the top left of the screen.
  • Come back to the "Add the tag manually" page, and click the "Next" button.

It should take up to 24 hours for Microsoft Advertising to verify your UET tag.
